HUNTSVILLE — MidCity District is growing once again.
RCP Companies has announced plans for the MidCity Arts + Innovation Subdistrict, a $300 million expansion that will transform 12 acres along Sanderson Road into a walkable hub for music, technology, hospitality and retail.
The development will introduce a 3,000-capacity indoor music venue known as MidCity Live, a relocated and expanded Camp venue, two hotels — including a 200-room music-branded hotel — an Innovation Tech Campus and approximately 60,000 square feet of retail and entertainment space.
Developers say the mid-size indoor venue fills a long-standing gap in Huntsville’s live music scene, offering space for artists whose audiences are growing or returning to more intimate settings. The venue will be operated by a national entertainment partner, to be announced in 2026.
The expanded Camp and the Artemis Event + Market Building will continue to host concerts, festivals and community programming, while also accommodating larger touring acts.
A major anchor of the subdistrict will be the Apollo Innovation Campus, led by the nonprofit Apollo Coalition. The campus will house programs such as the gener8tor Tech Accelerator, the NextGenHSV AI development initiative and education programs focused on sound, production and performance.
Since 2022, Apollo Coalition programs have supported more than 100 companies and helped create over 700 jobs.
An economic impact study projects the new phase could generate more than $420 million in lodging, sales and tax revenue, including $220 million in direct benefit to the city.
Officials say the expansion strengthens MidCity’s role as a year-round destination blending arts, innovation and economic growth.
