Sweet treat takeover: Athens Chocolate Walk returns for 13th year

By SPEAKIN’ OUT NEWS

Chocolate samples await visitors at a downtown business during Athens Main Street’s Chocolate Walk, one of the city’s most popular events.

Chocolate lovers will once again have a reason to stroll through downtown Athens as Athens Main Street hosts its 13th Annual Chocolate Walk on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.

The popular, self-guided event will run from noon to 5 p.m., offering chocolate samples, shopping and dining specials, and prize opportunities at participating downtown businesses. The Chocolate Walk is presented by Dream Key Real Estate.

Participants will begin at the Athens Main Street office, 107 N. Jefferson St., where they will pick up their pre-paid tickets, a map of participating locations and a bag to collect chocolate treats along the route.

Only 350 tickets will be sold for the event, which organizers say has become one of downtown’s most anticipated attractions. Last year’s Chocolate Walk sold out in less than five minutes.

Tickets cost $10 plus a processing fee and are limited to five per purchase. They will be available exclusively online through Eventbrite during three scheduled release times: Thursday, Jan. 22, at noon; Friday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, Jan. 24, at 9 a.m.

In addition to chocolate samples, downtown merchants and restaurants will offer special “Sweet Deals” throughout the day. Shoppers who make a purchase at a participating location can enter to win $500 in Love Bucks, redeemable at downtown businesses.

The Love Bucks drawing is open to all shoppers, including those without a Chocolate Walk ticket. Athens Main Street said Sweet Deals and participating locations will be posted on its website and social media pages ahead of the event.

“This event is perfect for couples, families and groups,” said Athens Main Street Executive Director Tere Richardson. “Whether you’re a local or visiting Athens for the first time, there’s something new and amazing to experience.”

Additional details and event updates will be released closer to the event date.
