HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Families in Huntsville’s District 1 will have the opportunity to enjoy a free evening of live theater as Arts Huntsville, in partnership with the City of Huntsville – District 1, presents the second installment of the Quarterly@Cavalry Performance Series.
The event will feature a special family-friendly performance of “Anansi the Spider,” presented by Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater and Academy, an organization known for engaging productions that combine entertainment with education and cultural storytelling.
The performance is set for Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Cavalry Hill Community Center, located at 2800 Poplar Avenue in Huntsville. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with the show beginning at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public, making it accessible to families across the community.
“Anansi the Spider” draws from traditional West African and Caribbean folklore, telling the story of a clever trickster who relies on wit, creativity, and storytelling to overcome challenges. The production is designed for audiences of all ages and introduces young viewers to important cultural traditions through the performing arts.
The Quarterly@Cavalry Performance Series was created to bring diverse, high-quality arts and cultural programming directly into District 1 and surrounding neighborhoods. Organizers say the series strengthens community connections and ensures residents have access to enriching cultural experiences close to home.
This event is sponsored in part by Frank Williams, whose support helps make free arts programming possible for local families and children.
Arts Huntsville officials say the performance offers families an opportunity to spend quality time together while exposing children to live theater in a welcoming, community-centered environment. Community members are encouraged to arrive early, as seating is limited.
A formal news release with additional details will be issued prior to the event.
