UAB Hospital continues its streak as Alabama’s top-ranked hospital, while North Alabama Medical Center earns statewide recognition for achieving zero catheter-associated infections.

Two Alabama hospitals are receiving high honors for their quality of care and commitment to patient safety.

UAB Hospital has once again been named the No. 1 hospital in Alabama and the Birmingham metro area by U.S. News & World Report, marking the 12th consecutive year it has earned the top spot. The annual rankings evaluate hospitals based on metrics such as patient outcomes, specialty care, and overall performance.

UAB was nationally ranked in multiple adult specialties, including cancer care, cardiology, and neurology, reaffirming its role as a leading academic medical center in the Southeast.

Meanwhile, North Alabama Medical Center, located in Florence, received distinction from Becker’s Hospital Review for achieving a zero rate of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI)—a rare and critical quality metric. Only eight hospitals in Alabama earned the CAUTI-free designation, based on national infection reporting standards.

Hospital officials praised the recognition as a testament to the dedication of frontline healthcare workers, infection control teams, and the hospital’s system-wide commitment to evidence-based best practices.

Both achievements highlight Alabama’s continuing strides in patient care and safety, offering renewed confidence to residents seeking high-quality health services across the state.
