MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The highly anticipated new manufacturing and warehousing facility for Diageo North America, a global leader in premium beverages, is on track to become fully operational in Montgomery during the second half of 2025. This massive $415 million investment marks a significant economic milestone for the state, poised to create substantial job opportunities and further solidify Alabama’s position as a key hub for manufacturing and logistics.

Announced earlier this year, the 360,000-square-foot facility, to be known as “Diageo Montgomery,” will boast a multi-million-case annual production capacity for popular brands such as Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, and Captain Morgan. Its strategic location within Montgomery’s thriving industrial park, particularly on a CSX Select Site, underscores the importance of efficient rail logistics in modern supply chain management. This positioning aims to bring Diageo’s operations closer to its southern distributors, reducing road travel and enhancing supply chain resilience and sustainability.

Upon full operation, the facility is expected to create approximately 100 high-quality, full-time jobs. Furthermore, the construction phase has already generated around 750 temporary jobs, providing a substantial boost to the local economy.

State and local leaders have lauded Diageo’s commitment to Alabama. Governor Kay Ivey previously stated, “Diageo’s decision to open a state-of-the-art facility in Montgomery is a testament to Alabama’s ability to attract world-class companies and foster meaningful economic growth.” Mayor Steven L. Reed of Montgomery also highlighted the project’s impact, noting it “reinforces our position as a leader in industrial and logistics growth” and “will create valuable jobs and further enhance economic opportunities throughout our region.”

Beyond job creation, the “Diageo Montgomery” facility is designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating state-of-the-art technology for more efficient water and energy usage. As part of a broader community commitment, Diageo has also invested $750,000 across three Alabama Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs): Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, and Tuskegee University, demonstrating a dedication to workforce development and local education.

This new facility represents a strategic move for Diageo to strengthen its North American supply chain and support future export growth, all while making a profound economic impact on the Montgomery area and the state of Alabama.
