SPEAKIN’ OUT NEWS

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Free 2 Teach Foundation has announced the receipt of an $80,000 donation from Landers McLarty Subaru, marking the second-largest contribution in the organization’s history. This generous gift will significantly bolster the nonprofit’s mission to provide free classroom supplies to educators in Madison and Limestone Counties.
“Teachers are filling carts. They’re getting your glue sticks, your paper, your scissors,” said Alison Kling, CEO of Free 2 Teach. “But then we also work across the community to source about 1.5 million in donated resources. So think about rolling chairs, paper, books, all of those things we get into the hands of teachers. Last year alone, we gave away 36,000 books.”
The donation will also support Free 2 Teach’s new initiative, Free 2 Play, which aims to provide musical instruments and sports equipment to area teachers, enhancing interactive learning opportunities in classrooms.
This contribution follows Free 2 Teach’s largest-ever donation of $150,000 from Meta in November 2024, underscoring the community’s ongoing commitment to supporting local educators.
Free 2 Teach operates a free store in Huntsville, offering thousands of products to educators, including basic supplies, STEM kits, art materials, and more. The organization has distributed over $13.5 million worth of resources since its inception in 2011, impacting more than 36,000 children annually.
