May Week 2025.

The mental health fair at the University of North Alabama, “It’s Okay to Say I Am Not Okay, ” kicks off April 24. The Student Counseling Service at UNA will present information to the students about mental health resources offered by the university. Several mental health activity stations will be set up. Texas Roadhouse will feature line dancing, encouraging everyone to let loose and embrace the rhythm.

Later that evening at the Gulliot Center on UNA campus, there will be a thought-provoking panel discussion on mental health. “Do not Suffer in Silence: My Struggle is Real and Yours is Too” offers a six-panel symposium that tackles mental health issues. This year’s moderator will be Demetria Green, from WAAY 31 morning news anchor.

Throughout the week, events will highlight charitable causes, cultural enrichment, and community service, including:

* May 1- “Strike Cancer Pin Down for St. Jude” Charity Bowling Event at Lauderdale Lanes, Florence.

* May 2- “Dancing in the Street: Dance with Me Tonight,” in downtown Sheffield. A live DJ and a YMCA dance instructor will be on-hand teaching international dances.

The year’s event will feature the Orr Sisters along with many gospel groups. In addition to the musical program, the event will feature food trucks, providing an opportunity for neighbors to come together, share a meal, and forge new connections.

* May 4 – Scholarship program “Be Encouraged, there is Hope,” at First Baptist Church, Tuscumbia, as we gather to announce the recipients of both the scholarship and essay awards.

* May 5 – “Eat Wings, Raise Funds” at Buffalo Wild Wings in Florence.
