On Saturday September 10, Union Chapel’s Girl Scout Troop #10729 held a Silver Awards Program for Eight Cadettes. The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can achieve. It gives the scout the chance to show that she is a leader who is organized, determined, and dedicated to improving her community.
The Pamper Me Pretty Program was the name of the project these young ladies chose to show their concern about Women of Color who have been recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer. With the anxiety about the issue of hair loss, the Scouts reached out to local Beauty Supply Stores, who donated make up and wigs. Guest Cosmetologists were present to cut and style the wigs and a Make-Up Artist added the finishing touch.

The Speaker for this program was Ms. Joyce Hampton, Cancer Survivor and Coordinator of the Union Chapel Cancer Ministry. The attendees were treated to a Luncheon where each one sat at a table with a Scout so they could have a one on one conversation about what they were going through.
