Thanks to Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers. The weather has been so nice lately. I hope everyone is getting out and enjoying it. Time passes fast and this year is flying by.
There must be a faster way to clear out houses of things we have collected over the years. We have garage sales but end up giving a lot of the things away. When my children were both in college, I went to flea markets every weekend and sold things out of the house to help provide them money for school.
Schools will be out in a few days and I wish the graduates a happy life and hope all the students have a great summer. For those graduates who will be taking jobs or attending colleges away from home, spend time with your family this summer as you cannot imagine how much they are going to miss you.
I am sure going to miss my grandson as he is looking for a place to live in Atlanta where he will be going to work. I will miss him but his dad will miss him more. They went fishing, boating and shared a lot of time together. He has always helped his dad work in the yard and with other projects around the house. My prayers are with him as he moves away and starts his career.
CONCERT AT THE NEW ORION AMPHITHEATER
My nice and my daughter had tickets Thursday night to the new amphitheater. It was a big crowd and there were four different entertainers throughout the night. They had to stand during entire performances which sounds crazy to me. I hope this theater does great to help pay back the money it cost our city and the taxpayers to build it.
POLITICS
The 24th of May is election day so please go vote. The country is in a lot of trouble and needs help. Hopefully we can get some leaders that care and will quit changing the laws that were made by INTELLIGENT PEOPLE. Politics is not the same as it was years ago and is getting worse. We need politicians that really care about the people’s quality of life and safety. Instead of the candidates running commercials telling the people what they intend to do to make things better, they all seem to just want to smear the other candidates running against them.
CITY LEADERS
I wish I could be happy again going to the City Council and Planning Department meetings. Our city is changing the quality of life for the citizens living in this city for the worse. We had a great agenda for the City Council meeting before they changed it. The entire agenda is no longer being read and the people really do not know what is going to be voted on. The Council has already voted on their items before the public even gets a chance to speak. Does anyone on the council care enough to put the agenda back like we had for 30 years or do they think they are smarter than all those before them? Stop tearing up this city with Apartments, Condos and hotels and all the poor planning. Let’s fix what we have and work on the traffic, increasing the police force and helping improve the quality of life for our citizens and city employees.
