Thanks to Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers. Summer is here, so get outdoors and enjoy this beautiful weather.
I had a great Mother’s Day Sunday giving thanks and for being the mother of two great loving children. My son and daughter have always been close and that means a lot.
Our family had a great day Saturday going to Auburn for my grandson’s graduation. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 grade point average. There were 6 graduations scheduled Saturday with over 4,500 students graduating. In my Grandson’s Business School class there were around 1,400 graduating. Congratulations to all those who graduated and I wish you great success.
POLITICS
Amazing how Candidates running for office today keep bashing their opponents. The laws that were made many years ago were made by INTELLIGENT people and our government officials today keep changing them and not for the better. It seems money has a lot to do with changing the laws for the chosen few. I wish our elected officials would think and care more about a better quality of life for all citizens.
GROWTH IN HUNTSVILLE
The Mayor and Planners wanted to make Huntsville the biggest city in Alabama and have been working fast with developments to do so. The Huntsville Metro area has seen rapid growth last year passing the 500,000 mark in 2021. The area includes Limestone and Madison County at the northern end of Alabama. According to the Mayor, “we do not only want to be the biggest in population but also the best” and “growth extends beyond city limits.”
Growth is great only if you can take care of what you have. Our infrastructure is growing so fast and without public input. There is no common sense with zoning variances changing and setbacks and alleys going away. Many neighborhood people come to the zoning and variance meeting begging for help from the city for safer streets. The developers need to bring their developments into the city’s Zoning and Variance Board instead of presenting them to the public after their deals have been made. The people should be a part of the planning in Huntsville as the planners seem not to care anymore about our city.
I call Huntsville the home of the Breweries, Billboards, Condos and Apartments. We need more Police Officers on the streets as speeders are rampant in the city and no one cares. We also need more and better roads to handle the TRAFFIC that is jammed up on many of our major streets today. Instead, our city officials are busy building parking garages for the developers.
Love you all and have a blessed week.
