One Woman’s Opinion

Jackie Reed, Columnist

Thanks, to Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers.  We have had some beautiful weather this past week and I am so very thankful for it.  The time will change back on March 14, and we will have daylight longer in the afternoon once again which is good for everyone.

I am thankful to God for everything. He is so good and cares about all of us.  We need to all stop and think who put us here and be thankful.  My prayers every day are for life, health, family, faith, love, and friends. I appreciate the people who go out of their way to speak to me out in public no matter where I am.

My grandson came home from Auburn this weekend and made the family very happy.  I was bragging on him and told him no one in my family has had as much common sense and is as smart as him.  He has always been good in school and knows how to fix all kind of things.  I am so proud of him.

TOC THERAPY

I am thru with physical therapy for my broken shoulder. I had a great instructor at the Orthopedic Center in Huntsville and they really do a great job working with you to get you moving again.

CITY COUNCIL MEETING

I was at the City Council meeting last Thursday’s night.  Many of the issues were barely even discussed to let the public know what was being voted on.  I know a lot of the public could care less but there are lot of people that do. I have been going to council for over 35 years with many different leaders, but I have never seen anything like this current group of leaders. The City Manager seems to be running our City instead of the Mayor.

SCHIOOL ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE

It was brought up by the Mayor at the city council meeting that the school board is wanting to buy the church building at the end of McClung Avenue and move their offices there.  The residents in the neighborhood are having issues and concerns with this and do not want the School Board offices in that area.  There needs to be a public hearing with the residents and the City will be required to change the ordinance from a church. I think the neighborhood residents should get up a petition to block this and sue the city and school board if necessary.

NORTH HUNTSVILLE PROJECT

The Sunday Times reported that retail, schools, and other projects are coming to North Huntsville.  Will Councilman Devyn Keith get his way with these improvements? Will the School Administrative Office be a part of this project as well? I am sure some of the big city developers would like to get their hands on the Administrative School properties.

PLANNERS

Planners, please stop the mess going on in Huntsville as you are ruining this city.  There are speeders, traffic issues and re-ordinances going on everywhere.

Love you all and have a blessed week.
