SERMONETTE OF THE WEEK: “He Made a Believer Out of Me”

The commercialized celebration of Jesus Resurrection has passed.

Easter bunnies and baskets have gone back into inventory, the Easter Sunday crowd has come and gone, the leftovers from Easter dinner have been eaten up.

However, I still believe Jesus died and rose again with all power in hand; I’m ten toes down, ride or die, all in when it comes to my faith in God — you can’t make me doubt Him because I know too much about Him.

The Bible declares the Lord “ever lives and makes intercession for the saints.”

Recorded in Luke 24:28-35, are the events, transpired the afternoon of the first Resurrection Sunday.

The events of that morning had begun to settle in; the body of Jesus was missing and uncertainty abounded, as doubt and despair began to rise.

Cleopas and another unnamed follower of Jesus are traveling along the seven-mile road between Jerusalem and Emmaus, as they are walking, they are talking about the missing body of Jesus after His death on the cross.

While they are talking, Jesus comes upon them and makes them believe, evidenced by their expression, verse 32, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

Listen, every born again child of God has this experience; liken unto these disciples, we’ve all witnessed something which died in our lives: joy died, peace died, happiness died, friends died, or family died.

You didn’t want it to happen but it happened anyway.

However, as it was with these disciples, Jesus showed up, caused your heart to burn, and you to can say “ He made a believer out of me.”

I heard the senior saints sings: I went to a meeting one night, and my heart wasn’t right

something got a hold of me.
