Perhaps you’ve heard of the Gospel song by Anthony Brown and Group Therapy called “Worth”.
The lyrics suggest “the Lord thought I was worth saving so He sacrificed His life, He thought I was worth keeping so He cleaned me up inside, He thought I was to die for so He gave His life so I could be free, so I could be while, so I could tell everyone I know”.
If you been redeemed, you ought to be able to tell somebody He thought I was to die for.
The Resurrection is not about baskets and bunnies, dinners and dress or suits and shoes; we ought to be excited by the fact Jesus thought we were to die for; the Bible says “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
I know this is counterproductive to way things are as we live in a world wherein people don’t value human life as we should; daily we hear of stabbings and shootings all over this country.
Perhaps someone reading this is struggling to find value in their own lives.
We mask ourselves to cover a troubled past, we try to cover it up with drugs, entertainment, failed relationships, achievement, what we drive, where we live and what we have— trying to cover an empty existence.
However, regardless of what people may think of themselves or others, there is some good news in the text, because Jesus thought we were to die for; He died that we might live!
Isaiah reminds us “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”
Jesus died for us, sacrificed His life for ours, paid a debt He didn’t owe because we owed a price we couldn’t pay— it ought to put a smile on our face, clapping in our hands, joy in our souls when we think about fact the Lord loved us enough to die for us.
Somebody else may not value you, but the Lord thought you were die for!
