Governor Kay Ivey recently met with members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’s Leadership South Class 20 during a visit to the Alabama State Capitol, highlighting the importance of civic engagement and leadership development across the state.
The meeting provided participants in the Leadership South program with an opportunity to engage directly with the governor, discuss public service, and gain insight into state government operations. Leadership South is designed to equip members with the knowledge and skills necessary to serve their communities effectively through advocacy, public policy awareness, and strategic leadership.
Governor Ivey welcomed the group and emphasized the value of civic participation and community involvement.
Programs like Leadership South play an important role in preparing emerging leaders to address local and statewide challenges. Through workshops, networking opportunities, and educational experiences, participants explore issues affecting Alabama communities while building relationships with policymakers and industry leaders.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., founded in 1908, has a longstanding history of service, advocacy, and leadership development. Leadership South is one of many initiatives aimed at strengthening communities through informed and engaged citizens.
