MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. — Authorities say they fear a missing mother and her two children may be in danger after troubling evidence was discovered at their south Alabama home, according to Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch.
The missing individuals are Aurelia Choc Cac De Tiul, 40, her daughter Niurka Tiul Choc, 17, and her son Anthony Garcia, 2. Neighbors last saw the family around 7:30 p.m. Friday at their residence in the 9000 block of Ben Hamilton Road. Deputies were notified Saturday afternoon, around 3 p.m., after the home was found empty.
During a press conference on Monday, Burch said multiple agencies — including the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency — are assisting in the search.
“No resource is being spared,” Burch said.
Investigators found blood stains, cell phones, and cash left behind at the residence. A missing mattress also raised concern.
“But it’s not just the blood,” Burch said. “It’s the fact that there are cell phones and cash left at the scene and a missing mattress, which is very unusual.”
Anthony’s father was initially considered a suspect but has since been ruled out after investigators confirmed his alibi that he was in Texas at the time the family disappeared.
Burch also addressed reports that Aurelia and Niurka received final deportation orders in April 2025, saying they were not deported and were not suspects in any violent crime. Anthony is a U.S. citizen, he said.
Aurelia is described as 5 feet tall, 140 pounds, and last seen wearing a maroon jacket and tan joggers. Niurka is 5-foot-1, about 100 pounds, last seen wearing a black top and plaid pants. Anthony weighs about 30 pounds and was last seen wearing a cartoon hoodie and blue jeans.
