Birmingham police investigate after a man was shot and killed Saturday morning in the Collegeville community. A Brighton woman faces murder charges in the case.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A Brighton woman has been charged in the fatal shooting of a man who police say was involved in a domestic dispute with her sister.

Brittney Watson, 26, is charged with murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling in the Saturday killing of 30-year-old Anson Quandarius Henderson, according to the Birmingham Police Department.

Officers responded about 10:15 a.m. to a reported domestic disturbance at a home in the 3200 block of 32nd Street North in the Collegeville community. While en route, they saw a vehicle speeding away and detained the driver.

At the scene, police found Henderson unresponsive on the front porch. He was pronounced dead by the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service.

Investigators said Henderson had been in an argument with the mother of his children earlier that morning. After the dispute ended, the woman left the home. Moments later, another vehicle arrived, and multiple shots were fired.

Authorities said Watson — the sister of the woman involved — fired the fatal shots before attempting to flee but was stopped by officers nearby.

Police confirmed that no children were injured in the incident.

“This tragic case stemmed from a domestic situation that escalated beyond control,” said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.

Watson is being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail.
