MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen has released a new educational video titled “Business Basics: Structures and Business Filings,” designed to help small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs navigate state business regulations and filing procedures.

The tutorial, now available on YouTube, offers step-by-step guidance on using the Business Services functions of the Secretary of State’s website, along with an overview of Alabama laws governing business formation and registration.

“I would encourage all Alabama small business owners or those with an interest in starting a business in Alabama to access this video,” Allen said. “It is always the goal of myself and my Office to ensure that Alabamians have the resources and guidance they need to be successful in their business endeavors.”

Secretary Allen said the initiative reflects his ongoing commitment to supporting Alabama’s business community by simplifying processes and reducing government burdens.

“My track record is very clear – I will always support Alabama’s hardworking men and women as they pursue the American dream,” Allen said. “In 2024, my Office advocated for legislation that eliminated a costly and unnecessary filing requirement, saving Alabama businesses about $690,000 over three years. I have also called for the repeal of burdensome federal filings that hold small businesses back.”

Allen noted that the “Business Basics” tutorial builds on those efforts by offering accessible, no-cost educational support for entrepreneurs seeking to register or grow their companies in the state.

For questions about business filings, entrepreneurs can contact the Business Services Division at 334-242-5324 or by email at business.services@sos.alabama.gov.

A Republican and former legislator from Pike County, Wes Allen is Alabama’s 54th Secretary of State and serves as the state’s chief elections official. His office is responsible for more than 1,000 statutory duties, including business filings, notary services, and administrative oversight of state records.
