BACK IN THE SADDLE: Former Bethune-Cookman head coach Brian Jenkins has led Edward Waters to impressive wins over defending SIAC champ Miles and Savannah State. His dangerous Tigers host two-time CIAA champ Virginia Union Saturday.

After a week of many black college FCS teams taking tough road losses playing up against FBS opponents, many of those same FCS teams are hosting teams below them at the NCAA Div. II level.

Black College FCS teams vs. Black College Div. II teams

MEAC member Howard (1-1), coming off a 55-7 road loss to Temple, plays in East Rutherford, N. J. vs. Morehouse (0-1) of the D2 SIAC in the HBCU New York Football Classic. The 1 p.m. contest will be streamed live at HB-CUGo.tv

SWAC member Jackson State (1-1) lost in a tough 38-20 match up with Southern Miss Saturday and hosts undefeated Tuskegee (2-0) of the SIAC Saturday (2 p.m. on SWAC TV).

North Carolina Central (1-2) of theMEAC lost at Old Dominion 54-6. The Eagles will entertain CIAA member Fayetteville State (0-2) at 6 p.m.. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Grambling State (1-1), coming off a 70-0loss before over 100,000 fans at FBS No. 1 Ohio State, has SIAC member Kentucky State (1-1) in at 6 p.m.. The game will be streamed on SWAC TV.

Florida A&M (0-2) of the SWAC, after falling to Florida Atlantic 56-14 Saturday,looks for its first win against tough, undefeated SIAC favorite Albany State (2-0) of the. SWAC TV will also carry the 7 p.m. start in Tallahassee, Fla.

Delaware State (37-32 over Albany), in the first win for new head coach DeSean Jackson, and Alabama State (30-7 over Southern) got wins vs. FCS opponents last week. They are also hosting D2 opponents. Delstate (1-1) hosts CIAA member Bowie State (1-0) at 3 p.m. ESPN+ is streaming that game. Alabama State (1-1) is taking on 0-2 Miles of the SIAC at 6 p.m. with The Grio handling the broadcast.

More FCS/FBC match ups

Another four black college FCS teams will have their hands full with FBS opponents this week.

Norfolk State (1-1), coming off head coach Michael Vick’s first win, is at 2-0 Rutgers at at 3 p.m. carried by the Big Ten Network.

Alcorn State (0-2) is at 2-0 Mississippi State at 2 p.m., Morgan State (0-2) is at 1-1 Toledo at 3:30 p.m. and Prairie View (1-1) is at 1-1 Rice at 6 p.m. All three games are on ESPN+.

Southern (0-2) travels out West to take on Fresno State (2-1) for a 7 p.m. affair to be carried on the Mountain West Network.

FCS battles

Alabama A&M (1-1), fresh off a 41-31-win over Alcorn State, is at Tennessee State (1-1). TSU was thrashed by FCS No. 1 North Dakota State, 59-3 Saturday. ESPN+ is streaming the 3:30 p.m. start. Bethune-Cookman (45-3to Miami) and South Carolina State (38-10 to South Carolina) both took in on the chin last week. Their meeting in Nashville is set for 6p.m. streamed on ESPN+. North Carolina A&T (0-2), after a 68-7 loss to Central Florida will be seeking its first win at home vs. 1-1 Hampton (7 p.m., FloFootball).

Premier CIAA vs. SIAC battle

Two-time defending CIAA champion Virginia Union (1-0)is in Jacksonville, Fla. to face (4 p.m., ESPN+) undefeated SIAC upstart Edward Waters (2-0). Playing under new interimhead coach Brian Jenkins, EWU has averaged43.3 points in wins over defending SIAC champMiles (46-14) and Savannah State (41-14).
