MONTGOMERY, AL — U.S. Rep. Barry Moore of Enterprise, who represents Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District, has officially launched his campaign for the U.S. Senate, announcing his candidacy this morning in a written statement to supporters and media outlets.

“I’m running for Senate because the people of Alabama deserve a Trump conservative and a working man who will defend their freedoms,” said Moore, who is currently serving his third term in Congress.

Moore’s entry into the race adds another high-profile contender to the field vying to replace U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who has opted to run for governor rather than seek re-election to the Senate.

He joins Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall and veteran Jared Hudson in what is expected to be a closely watched Republican primary. Political observers say the contest could shape up as a battle for the pro-Trump conservative base in Alabama, with all three candidates aligning themselves with the former president’s policies and rhetoric.

The Republican primary for the U.S. Senate in Alabama is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, 2026, with a runoff, if needed, set for June 16, 2026. The winner will advance to the November 3, 2026, general election.

Moore, a former small business owner and Alabama state legislator, has consistently campaigned as a staunch conservative voice, emphasizing issues like border security, opposition to federal overreach, and strong support for the military and law enforcement.
