Brighton police have arrested three men accused of stealing electronic bingo-style machines that had been seized from Joker’s Bingo, an illegal gambling operation shut down by state authorities.
The machines, which were held as evidence and marked with state-issued tags, were discovered back in use at another local bingo hall. Authorities say the theft was reported after enforcement agents identified the devices during a follow-up inspection.
According to police, the suspects broke into the storage site, removed the machines, and attempted to reactivate them for public use. All three were arrested and charged with third-degree burglary.
The incident comes just weeks after the Attorney General’s Office and state task forces carried out raids across Jefferson County targeting unlicensed gaming facilities. Joker’s Bingo was one of several operations closed under a court order.
The case remains under investigation. Law enforcement officials say the theft of seized property is a serious offense and warn that efforts to bypass legal restrictions on gambling will continue to be met with full enforcement.
