Elise Cannon, a talented student from Columbia High School, was named the 1st Place Winner of the Women’s History Month Art Contest, an initiative sponsored by Rosie’s International Services, Inc. Her winning artwork was displayed at the Huntsville Public Library – Youth Department, where it was showcased as part of a community celebration honoring youth expression through the arts.
The exhibition, which ran from March 19 through March 31, 2025, aligned with the national theme: “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations.” Locally, the event carried the theme: “Honoring our Youth Leaders of Today and the Future.”
Rosie Douglas, organizer and founder of Rosie’s International Services, expressed her pride in Cannon’s work. “Elise’s piece captured the heart of our mission — to uplift youth and celebrate the cultural richness of our community through the arts,” said Douglas.
The program, known as “Keeping Art Alive,” served as a community outreach effort to encourage creative expression and cultural understanding among young people in Huntsville.
Rosie’s International Services, Inc. is committed to enriching the community through art, music, history, performing arts, and language. This year’s event highlighted the powerful role youth play in shaping the future through creativity and leadership.
