An undocumented immigrant was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison Thursday after pleading guilty to bringing a 15-year-old runaway girl to Alabama for sex, according to court records and a report.

Myron Marroquin Lopez, also known as Carlos Marroquin Gomez and Carlos Marroquin Logan, was sentenced before U.S. District Court Judge Liles C. Burke to 240 months in federal prison on charges of production of child pornography and transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, WHNT reported.

According to his plea agreement filed in Birmingham federal court, the victim’s sister, who is also her legal guardian, called Washington, D.C. police on Oct. 6, 2021 to report that her sister ran away from home.

The teen’s sister told police she ran away several times in the last two years and that the last several times she had been found in the D.C. area with Lopez.

On Oct. 14, 2021, the victim’s sister received a phone call from the victim, prompting police to set an emergency ping for the phone.

The ping placed the phone in Birmingham, where federal agents located the runaway at an apartment complex with Lopez and another undocumented immigrant, according to court records.

In interviews with federal agents, the runaway said she fled D.C. with Lopez to work construction in Alabama, adding that they stayed at the Huntsville home of Lopez’s friend when not working the construction job at the Birmingham apartment building.

Agents recovered obscene videos of Lopez engaging in sex acts with the girl, records showed.
