Thanks to Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers. Thanks for recognizing the “Tough Ole Bird” and speaking to me when you see me in public.
Last week was a great week. My youngest grandson Daniel graduated from Huntsville High School last Friday. There were a lot in his graduation class and many happy parents and loved ones were in attendance. I want to wish all the graduates the best in life with much happiness and blessings.
ELECTION PRIMARY
It seems many people were not interested in the elections last week and did not vote. There are several run-offs coming up and I hope the citizens will care and go out and vote for their candidates this next time around. With the shape our city, state and country are in we should all care and pray for things to get better in this country. It seems that big money and self-promotion is a priority for many of the politicians.
I am glad that Governor Kay Ivey is staying in office as so many of our governors before her had so many issues. She did not raise our gas prices by herself. The other politicians were equally involved. There were so many smear campaign commercials in this election speaking out against other candidates. It would have been way more helpful instead to talk about how they would help the citizens have a better quality of life if elected.
SENATE RACE
Dale Strong, Madison County Commission and former Assistant Secretary of the Army and Huntsville City Schools Superintendent Casey Wardynski, will be in a run- off on June 21. The two Huntsville Candidates running for an Alabama congressional seat are seeking to fill the seat held by U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks. There will be a debate between the two on June 16 on WHNT TV. This debate could be very interesting.
BIGGEST CITY IN ALABAMA
It is hard to believe we are now the biggest city in the state. We have so many problems in our city and our Mayor and City Council refuse to address them. I was told by Police Officer there is no money for additional Police Officers yet our traffic is terrible and speeders are all over the city. When are our leaders going to address the concerns of the citizens and start presenting some plans instead of continuing to annex more property and giving away our city property as surplus? The public has no way to know who our leaders are giving our land to and for what reason.
Why do I care so much about Politics? The more I learn how it all works the more unhappy it makes me.
Love you all and have a blessed week.
