Thanks to Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers. Please call 256-551-1020 and order a subscription to Speakin Out News. It has lot of great news and stories and makes a great gift. Mr. William Smothers and his beautiful family have done such a great job with this paper for many years.

I want to wish my oldest grandson a happy birthday. He turned 22 on October 12, 2021.  He is a senior at Auburn this year and we won’t get to spend his birthday with him.   I told him he can never be away from the family anymore on his birthday.  No wonder my son calls me “Tough Ole Bird.”

CITY LEADERS

There are many changes taking place in Huntsville, Alabama as Mayor Battle and leaders want Huntsville to be the largest city in Alabama. This Administration and Planners want to give developers long term leases with small payments per month. There is lots of money spent on greenways all over the city but not downtown.  I was sent a report where Gov. Kay Ivey had published a bulletin about preserving historical buildings in the cities. I gave Mayor Battle and the City leaders copies but they did not read them. Big buildings are being built almost in the streets downtown because of the zoning variances being changed so much. Restaurants, retail, condos and clubs are all we are looking to put in our downtown area. We cannot take care of what we already have in this city. I told our leaders if you want to live in a big city so bad why don’t you move to one and take your friends with you. I will hire the movers.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS

The large City Hall parking garage across the street from city hall is going to be torn down before the first of the year.  The beautiful marble white building on City Hall property will be demolished and another one built on the parking garage space across the street that is currently used for city offices and city personnel.  Go have your picture made with the beautiful white marble building before it is destroyed.  It will be something to remember someday.  Why are we not building the new City Hall back on the same property? This is the most important piece of property in our city and I do not believe anyone has enough money to buy that property.  I am waiting to see who we give it away to.

Please go to Governors Drive across the street from the Post Office and see the big development taking place.  Another Bridge Street with many stores. The big building is built almost in the street and will make it very hard to see the traffic coming from both directions. This will be a future site of many accidents. Who is checking this planning and why is this city being built like this? People wake up and demand to know who is paying for all this development. The City never helped the VBC or the development taking place at old Heart of Huntsville Shopping Center.

Love you all and have a blessed week.
